Socialising and Alcohol

Experimental Film (2010); is about a young Irish person giving up alcohol but finds that he is also in a state of social detoxing as most people around him and his social outlets are still involved with alcohol. It’s really about a cycle that exists and has existed in Irish culture and investigating this cycle.

It was received well and shown numerous times in Ireland including before the cinema programme at The Model, Niland Gallery and also as far away as Budapest at the Cross Talk Video Art Festival.

It set the tone for the type of projects I would be interested in. Within that one action of giving up alcohol, there was a lot to explore, including perception, distances created, the difficulties of meeting people, and retelling narratives.
